The Mandarin Oriental Hotel

Set at the heart of our nation's capital, The Mandarin Oriental has redefined luxury in Washington DC. Just streets away from the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial and the Smithsonian Institution, this 4-star hotel is also within easy reach of Capitol Hill. There are 347 deluxe hotel rooms and 53 luxury suites. Amenities include a 50-foot indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and over 38,000 square feet of conference and banquet facilities. Opened in late 2003, the Mandarin Oriental offers panoramic views over the Washington Basin and features the area's first five-star restaurant.

Construction began on this 512,000 square-foot luxury hotel and office complex in April, 2002 and topped out in March, 2003. Our subsidiary, Superior Concrete, provided the concrete to ONCORE Construction for the 12-story above-grade and 3-story below-grade concrete frame structure. Armada/Hoffler Development Company (the general contractor), ONCORE, and Superior worked together on the required concrete mixes as well as exacting challenges such as four 2,000 yard mat foundation pours.
